Victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last summer, Thibaut Courtois suffered a terrible relapse. While taking part in training scheduled by Carlo Ancelotti, the Belgian international reportedly collapsed on the pitch before leaving the session in tears.
Courtois would suffer from a tear in the inner meniscus of his right knee, and would therefore be affected in the other leg. A very serious injury which forced him to return to the infirmary for a long period of time. Real will have to deal with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Andriy Lunin, the two replacements in the position, for their next challenges in the spring.
