The ordeal continues for Thibaut Courtois. Injured this summer in mid-August with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the Belgian goalkeeper finally saw the end of the tunnel, he who was back in training. Good news for the 31-year-old player who was unable to hold his place even if the interim was well settled by Kepa Arrizabalaga and Andriy Lunin.

Unfortunately for him, this Tuesday March 19 was the scene of another hard blow. While he was training with Valdebebas and his return to the team was looming after the international break, Thibaut Courtois collapsed to the ground and left training in tears according to the latest indiscretions of Marca.

Thibaut Courtois towards a white season

Being able to expect the worst and another long unavailability, Thibaut Courtois has just been confirmed. According to Cadena Cope, the former Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea tore the internal meniscus in his right knee. Real Madrid have confirmed the news. “After the tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois, he was diagnosed with a tear of the internal meniscus in his right knee. The injury occurred during today's training session. Evolution pending.”

An injury to the other leg for the 31-year-old player whose season will be as blank as the Real Madrid jersey since new long months of absences are looming. For A.S., unavailability could be shorter and reach 6 to 7 weeks. The player must still undergo tests to more precisely determine the severity of this injury. If for several weeks, Andriy Lunin has performed perfectly in the goals of Real Madrid and multiplies the good performances, this remains a hard blow for the Madrid club which will still have to cope without its star. Thibaut Courtois is heading for a new surgical procedure.
