The OM coach managed to get the Marseille club back on track. However, it remains with two defeats before the international break.
Olympique de Marseille suffered their first defeat in Ligue 1, Sunday against Stade Rennais, since Jean-Louis Gasset took over from Gennaro Gattuso on the sidelines. A bad mark just before the international break, especially since the Marseille club was not far from a comeback last Thursday at Villarreal in the Europa League.
The OM coach gives a rather positive first assessment. “We took 9 points out of 12 in the league and we are qualified for the quarter-finals of the European Cup. Thanks to them, to the 15 able-bodied players who were there and who gave everything. There are people in the locker room who deserve the days off. We will recover and we will do the final sprint, the money time, as best as possible in the same state of mind as in this sequence”explained the 70-year-old technician at a press conference.
Home stretch
Laurent Blanc's former assistant at PSG is looking ahead to the rest of the season. “There are 8 matches left, so when we have recovered, we will play the 8 matches fully and we will do the accounts afterwards. And we have at least two matches left in the European Cup, with a lot of hope. Because we host the second match and we saw it against Villarreal, when we play in front of our supporters, we are capable of doing great things”imagines the native of Montpellier.
After the international break, OM will enter the home stretch of their season. And it will begin with the “Classique” against Paris Saint-Germain, at the Stade Vélodrome, on Sunday March 31.
