Jadon Sancho has explained his goal celebration after scoring for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League win over PSV.
The England international, on loan from Manchester United to BVB, contributed to qualification for the quarter-finals of the continental competition. He opened the scoring in the second leg of the round of 16 match against PSV, less than three minutes into a match that ended 1-1 on aggregate.
Sancho was overcome with emotion after scoring his first goal at Signal Iduna Park during his second spell at Dortmund. The 23-year-old spoke to TNT Sports after the match: “ It was like a relief. I think every player wants to start a match well and there’s no better feeling than that. I’m grateful to have scored this goal for the team. I have always had a special affection for Borussia Dortmund. This is where I made my name, so I have to be grateful to them, but also to my teammates for believing in me. I’m just happy we won“.
A special condition
While Sancho had reason to celebrate against PSV, he was forced off the pitch 15 minutes from time after taking a knock. “ The last time I played at home, before I got injured, I felt something and I didn’t want to take any risks. We’ll check and hopefully it’s nothing. It’s a hamstring, but it should be fine. »
Sancho’s replacement Marco Reus scored a second goal for Dortmund in added time against PSV, who won 3-1 on aggregate. The Bundesliga giant will enter the quarter-final draw.
