Vitinha, the most expensive recruit in OM history, scored his first goal with Genoa, where he is on loan.
Coming on at half-time for Genoa when they hosted Monza, Vitinha finally launched his career in the Italian championship. Unfortunately for the player on loan from Olympique de Marseille, his first goal in his new colors after a rough start came on a defeat evening. It was indeed Monza which came to win (2-3) in Genoa to seize 10th place in Serie A.
Vitinha will at least have taken a breath of fresh air in terms of confidence, thanks to a very nice goal to allow Genoa to return to 2-2 (60th). With a beautiful left-footed strike, the Portuguese, the most expensive recruit in OM history, showed a real attacking gesture too rarely seen on the Canebière.

An end of the season in a soft stomach
Unfortunately for the locals, for whom Kevin Strootman and Ruslan Malinovskyi also took to the field, Daniele Maldini, Paolo’s son, gave Monza the lead again at the end of the game (80th).
Genoa is only 12th in Serie A, 10 points ahead of the relegation zone and 20 behind the European places. The end of the season looks a little moribund for Alberto Gilardino’s players.
Earlier in the day, Inter Milan won in Bologna (0-1), Sassuolo dominated Frosinone (1-0) and Cagliari beat Salernitana (4-2).
