FC Barcelona has just suffered a major blow in its efforts to finish the season on a high note.
After losing Gavi and Alejandro Balde, Pedri was forced off the field on Sunday against Athletic Club due to a recurrence of the hamstring injuries that have hampered him in recent years.
Early reports suggested that Pedri would be out for 5-6 weeks due to this problem, which FC Barcelona chose not to operate on, opting instead for conservative treatment. However, this delay was only a best-case scenario, and it now appears that the worst has come true.
New recurrence for Pedri
As reported by Bar Canaletes, FC Barcelona do not expect Pedri to play again this season, as his injury is under extreme caution. Furthermore, he would miss Euro 2024 and it is likely that the 21-year-old will not take part in the Olympics either, which would be a small consolation for the Catalan giants.
This season has been nothing short of disastrous for Barcelona, and this is the latest blow. Without Pedri, the chances of success in the Champions League – their only realistic chance of winning a trophy – will diminish significantly.
