At the heart of a scandal, the referee of the match between Valencia and Real Madrid should not escape unscathed. As a reminder, Gil Manzano, on the whistle for this meeting, was guilty of several situations. Starting in the first half with Valencia action cut off. Events multiplied in the last quarter of an hour, with a penalty wrongly whistled on Hugo Duro, and the end of the match whistled while the Madrilenians had a goal action, converted by Bellingham but after the three whistles. On this subject, the former Spanish referee Mateu Lahoz complained about the refereeing of Gil Manzano, indicating that “It’s ignorance of the game”.

Thus, these actions being the subject of a scandal in La Liga and almost everywhere in Europe, the Arbitration Commission took up the matter. It will examine the entire meeting but the official faces sanction. Valladolid experienced a similar situation last season and referee Ortiz Arias was sanctioned, as recalled A.S..
