Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended and fined for his vulgar response to Lionel Messi’s taunts during the Al-Nassr-Al-Shabab clash.
The five-time Ballon d’Or reacted to those present in the stands after a spectacular victory (3-2) in the Saudi Pro League. Cr7 was thus filmed making an obscene gesture towards his detractors in the crowd.
An investigation was launched into Ronaldo’s actions, with the Saudi Football Federation rushing to assess all the evidence at its disposal.
One match suspension
The SAFF announced that CR7 must serve a one-match suspension and pay a fine of 30,000 Saudi riyals (around 7,000 euros).
The committee revealed that 10,000 Saudi riyals will be paid to SAFF and 20,000 riyals to Al-Shabab to help cover their costs of filing complaints. The decision is not subject to appeal, meaning Ronaldo will not take part in the match against Al-Hazm on Thursday.
