German football legend Lothar Matthaus believes Xabi Alonso would do well to turn away his Liverpool courtiers.
Former German international Lothar Matthäus, world champion in 1990, wants Xabi Alonso to take the reins of Bayern Munich. He suggests this destination rather than Liverpool.
“Bayern must do everything to recruit Xabi Alonso”
The current coach of Bayer Leverkusen is in fact mentioned at both Bayern and Liverpool, with both clubs looking for a new coach for next season. Matthäus told Sky Deutschland: “I don’t know a coach in Europe or in the world who suits Bayern Munich better than Xabi Alonso. “Xabi Alonso must be at the top of Bayern’s list for his CV, his authority and his successful work at Leverkusen.”
Xabi’s contract at Bayer runs until 2026. Recently, the Basque spoke about his future. He said he won’t make any decisions before the end of the season. His only objective at the moment is to lead his team to glory in the Bundesliga.
