Canadian defender Alphonso Davies is expected to join the ranks of Real Madrid next offseason.
While waiting to complete the arrival of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid has secured valuable reinforcement in defense for next season. The Merengue have reached an agreement with Canadian full-back Alphonso Davies.
According to information disclosed by The Athletic, the two parties have agreed on the different terms of this commitment. Despite the interest of some Premier League teams, the player would have given his preference to Casa Blanca.
Bayern raise the bar for Davies
In the Spanish capital, the Canadian international would reunite with one of his former teammates at Bayern, in this case David Alaba. The duo were among the great architects of the European champion title acquired in 2020.
However, the transfer is not yet completely complete. It remains for Real Madrid to find common ground with Bayern. Even if Davies only has one year left on his contract, the German giant does not intend to give up one of its captains for crumbs. According to the daily Marca, he will demand at least €50 million as transfer compensation. Florentino Pérez, the boss of Real, still hopes not to have to pay so much in order to save money for the acquisition of Mbappé.
