Jean-Louis Gasset, the new OM coach, responded to his detractors after leading his team to a success against Montpellier.
Marseille is doing better. Sunday evening, against Montpellier (4-1), the Olympians collected a second success in the space of three matches. A great demonstration of strength and which inevitably bears the imprint of their new coach Jean-Louis Gasset.
At the end of the game, the septuagenarian coach was careful not to puff out his chest. But he still took the opportunity to respond to those who mocked him when he arrived at the club. Comparisons with American President Joe Biden did not leave him indifferent. “It made me laugh a little. I laughed heartily. But when we do media work, we are often heckled. I try to answer in my own way”he confided on Prime Video.
Gasset over the moon after a perfect first week
He then admitted that he felt better after these two victories obtained. “Today, things are better. When I saw the construction site, I said “wow”. The mission was difficult. But we are alive to take on challenges. It’s a real pleasure if we manage to succeed in the three-month mission.”
Gennaro Gattuso’s successor then returned to his 1e week at the club: “It was a week of psychology. No time to work. A group that doubts. We made a tactic for the 1er Fairly simplistic match. Play without taking any risks behind. And the level of impeccable state of mind. And the 2e match, have the same state of mind and raise the level of technical and efficiency.”
Finally, Gasset also sought to thank the Olympian public. “The beginnings of failed matches? We give ourselves a small handicap in each match. We’re still a little tense. But when we have an audience like that, which is tolerant and transcends us, it makes us want to give everything and seek victory.”
