Sir Jim Ratcliffe waited until his entry into the capital of Manchester United was formalized to finally display his ambitions publicly. And if the new strong man of the Red Devils has not promised any flashes from next season, he admitted that his goal is to steal the spotlight from MU’s two rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool.

“We have a lot to learn from our noisy neighbor (Manchester City) and the other neighbor (Liverpool). Ultimately, they are our enemies. There’s nothing I’d like better than to knock them both off their perch. (…) This is not a ten-year plan. Supporters would be running out of patience if this was a ten-year plan. But this is certainly a three-year plan. To think that we are going to play football as good as Manchester City played against Real Madrid last year starting next season is not reasonable. And if we give people false hope, they will be disappointed. So I think the main thing is our trajectory, so people can see that we’re making progress. I think the club will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2028… If our trajectory takes us to a very good place in this time frame, we will be very happy about it. It is not easy to make Manchester United the best football team in the world »he confided in comments relayed by the Telegraph.
