Antoine Griezmann, French international for Atlético Madrid, has expressed his firm intention to play in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Antoine Griezmann is determined to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Atlético Madrid striker told Le Monde newspaper that he will “do everything possible” to be present at the event. “Having the Games in Paris is something exceptional,” said Grizou.
At the age of 32, the Frenchman could thus play two consecutive international tournaments, the Euro in Germany (June 14-July 14) and the Olympic Games in Paris (July 24-August 10). However, he will need approval from his club, as the tournament is not considered an official FIFA competition.
“No reason to worry”
Executive of the French team of the Didier Deschamps era, Griezmann will have to meet Madrid leaders to discuss his participation in the Olympics with the team led by Thierry Henry. The last word nevertheless goes to the Colchoneros, who could refuse to let him go, unlike the Euro.
The Mâconnais is, however, confident in his ability to manage two major competitions in such a short time. “I know my body, we have high-level physiotherapists, so there is no reason to worry,” confided the 2018 world champion.
Griezmann’s Olympic dream is about to come true, but it will depend on the green light from his club.
