Lamouchi, the truth about OM

Contacted last fall to become the new coach of OM, Sabri Lamouchi would have liked to succeed Gennaro Gattuso.

Jean-Louis Gasset will be on the bench of Olympique de Marseille this Thursday. After Marcelino, Jacques Abardonado and Gennaro Gattuso, he will be the fourth coach of Ciel et Blanc.

But other technicians were eyeing the bench of the Olympian club, including Sabri Lamouchi, contacted last September when OM were looking for a successor to Marcelino but forgotten this winter, according to Daniel Riolo.

“I had him today and he said to me: ‘of course I would have accepted for lots of reasons. But I haven’t been contacted. On the other hand, I was contacted before Gattuso arrived (appointed September 27, 2023)’, he explained at the microphone of RMC. He was not chosen. And it was Tessier who contacted him, not Longoria. Tessier (general director of the club) therefore contacted Lamouchi at the end of September when Marcelino left and finally Longoria (president of OM) preferred to take Gattuso. »
