Under pressure from the DNCG, Olympique Lyonnais is finalizing the sale of Castello Lukeba to Leipzig. John Textor will not be able to keep his promise to keep all the nuggets of the Rhone club.
The fear of Lyon supporters to see one of their nuggets leave the club this summer is likely to materialize in the coming days. L’Equipe claim that the sale of Castello Lukeba to RB Leipzig, a time set aside when John Textor wanted to keep all his best talent for next season, is now all but inevitable. An offer of 32 million euros, bonus included, is indeed in preparation, and it should be accepted by the leaders of OL. For the moment, no official offer has been made, but the sports daily affirms that the agreement will be reached at this amount as soon as the proposal is issued.
Leipzig will loot Lens and Lyon
RB Leipzig is however on several issues, since it is negotiating with another Ligue 1 club, RC Lens, for the arrival of Loïs Openda. Unless John Textor manages to pull off a sleight of hand with the DNCG by getting out of the framework of his recruitment, there is a good chance of seeing Castello Lukeba in another jersey next season. It will be a very good cash flow for OL for a player trained at the club, but it will also be the loss of a promising central defender whose association with Dejan Lovren was very convincing. This would also force the Lyon leaders to look for at least one new player in this sector of play, after the departures of Jérome Boateng, Damien Da Silva and Thiago Mendes, all far from being holders, but who still filled this position.
