Turkish club Besiktas have terminated a young player’s contract after his dating profile was spotted online and spread across social media.
Emirhan Delibas, 21, left the club by mutual consent, although the winger denied the profile was his and called the account “fake”.
In a statement, the club said: “ We parted ways with professional football player Emirhan Delibas by mutual agreement. We wish him every success in his future career.”
A fake account on Tinder?
Although the official reason for this decision has not been confirmed, it is likely to be linked to Delibas’ alleged profile on the dating app Bumble. On his page, a photo of Delibas wearing the Besiktas training kit and holding a drink was accompanied by his name and age, although the number falsely stated that he was 24 years old.
His description told researchers he was a club footballer, provided his Instagram handle and revealed he was looking for “something casual”. However, the player sought to distance himself from his profile.
In a statement posted on Instagram, he said: “ I reject the slander spread by fake accounts and I want to affirm that my loyalty to my team cannot be questioned. Besiktas is a responsibility for me. Your love has been my greatest motivation. »
Delibas briefly featured in Besiktas’ Super Lig defeat to Kasimpasa in January, playing nine minutes, and also made a brief appearance in the Europa Conference League.
