After parting ways with Gennaro Gattuso, OM management is in the process of enlisting Jean-Louis Gasset as coach.
Olympique de Marseille ended Gennaro Gattuso’s mission as first team coach this Monday. The Italian’s succession is now open and there is a name that seems to be emerging to land at the Vélodrome. It’s that of Jean-Louis Gasset.
The Olympian board wishes to appoint a French coach at the technical helm. If only to finish the current season. The name of Christophe Galtier had been put forward but no contact had been established with the former PSG coach. The priority is rather embodied by Gasset. Several corroborating sources affirm that the former deputy of Laurent Blanc is in pole position to take the reins of the Marseille team.
Gasset to finish the season
Aged 70, the latter is coming out of a complicated experience at the head of the Ivorian selection. However, this did not impact his rating in any way. He is known for his skills. And he has already worked as a firefighter on duty in other elite clubs. Between 2017 and 2021, he successively took care of AS Saint-Etienne and the Girondins de Bordeaux.
If an agreement is reached quickly, Gasset could be on the OM bench next Thursday during the return match of the Europa League play-offs against Shakhtar. His mission will then be to achieve the best possible end to the season in the championship. Currently, Marseille is 9e in the general classification, with as many points behind the podium as ahead of the jump-off (9 points).
