Bayer Leverkusen (3-0), Lazio (1-0) and Bochum (3-2), Bayern Munich has just had a catastrophic week, suffering three agonizing defeats in no time. Among the failing executives of this team, we find Joshua Kimmich. Pillar of recent seasons in the Bavarian midfield and valuable during the Champions League gleaned in 2020, the German midfielder assisted from the bench in the heavy setback against Leverkusen before being involved in his team’s other fiascos. Far from being as infallible as in the past despite an honorable statistical record (1 goal and 6 goals in 26 matches), the 29-year-old player is clearly in the most complicated phase of his career. The reason lies largely behind his conflicting relationship with Thomas Tuchel.

For many months and especially this summer, the German coach has constantly requested reinforcements from his management and especially in the defensive midfielder position, the role occupied by Joshua Kimmich. It was also about to happen since the Portuguese JoĂŁo Palhinha was close to arriving this summer from Fulham, but the matter collapsed. “There is no news about it and there is no point in thinking about it now either. He plays at Fulham and we play here without him. I don’t know, things can change sometimes. No one can predict it.” Having to live together throughout the season, the two men experienced many complicated moments. And that took on its full meaning this Sunday during the Bavarians’ 3-2 defeat against Bochum.

Joshua Kimmich is thinking about leaving this summer

According to Bild, Joshua Kimmich would have violently argued with Zsolt Löw, Thomas Tuchel’s assistant, when returning to the locker room after the meeting. The latter would have criticized him for having lost an important duel with the equalizer at 1-1. Asked about this, Thomas Tuchel downplayed the scene at a press conference: “I know what was happening. It’s not for the public. We’re in a football locker room, it’s moving.” However, the German media explains that the relationship of trust is now broken between Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Tuchel. The first would still be affected by his banishment during the most important match of the season against Bayer Leverkusen in favor of young Aleksandar Pavlović.

The blow is tough for Joshua Kimmich who was the privileged relay and strong man for Julian Nagelsmann. Now in a toxic relationship with Thomas Tuchel, the native of Rottweil whose contract expires in June 2025 is at a turning point in his career and would have decided for a departure this summer from the Rekordmeister. Previously in favor of the extension, he sees his conflictual relationship taking precedence over his initial position. Good news for its many suitors since Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle, FC Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester City are in the running. Bayern Munich, which is now 8 points behind Bayer Leverkusen, undoubtedly lost the title this weekend, but also one of its strong men.
