African champion with the Ivory Coast (and voted best young player of the CAN), Simon Adingra resumed with Brighton on Sunday and scored a double during a big victory for the Seagulls in Sheffield (0- 5).
At 22, Simon Adingra suddenly became a star of African football. The Brighton winger led the Ivory Coast at the end of the African Cup of Nations, even providing the two assists in the final won by the Elephants against Nigeria, a week ago in Abidjan. The 22-year-old star was voted best player of the final and best young player of the competition!
For his return to the Premier League, Adingra did not fail to shine brightly. He indeed scored a double at the end of the match (78th, 85th), after having been untenable on his side, against the red lantern Sheffield (0-5), Sunday afternoon. He now has six goals and an assist in the Premier League (as well as one goal and two assists in the Europa League). The player revealed to Nordsjaelland is launched!
Brighton in the race for Europe
Roberto De Zerbi’s team found themselves 11 against 10 in the 13th minute and the exclusion of Mason Holgate from the Blades side. Facundo Buonanotte (20th) and Danny Welbeck (24th) put Brighton on the right track. The visitors’ offensive display continued in the second half with a score from Jack Robison (75th) then a double from Adingra.
Brighton are recovering a little in the PL standings by rising to seventh position, now nine points from 5th place. 6th place will give access to the Conference League in the event of Liverpool winning the EFL Cup final against Chelsea. Sheffield United still have seven points less than the first non-relegation team.
