Kondogbia, the Coué method

At a press conference, the OM midfielder gave a speech which does not really seem in line with the reality of his club.

This Sunday evening, at 8:45 p.m., Olympique de Marseille will take to the pitch at Stade Brestois, on the occasion of the 22nd day of Ligue 1. Stuck in eighth place in the standings, the Marseille club will try to get their head out of water, three days after an inglorious draw (2-2) in the Europa League, against Shakhtar Donetsk. Since the start of 2024, Gattuso’s men have only won one match, against amateurs from Thionville in the Coupe de France.

Despite this crisis of results, Geoffrey Kondogbia does not seem alarmed. “I’m not the type to be a worried person. I think hope is very important. Especially since today we still have a lot to play for. I am filled with a lot of hope and confidence. Afterwards it is certain that we will not see each other’s face, there are things to improve and fast enough. We are aware of our realities. I still have this confidence which allows me to say that we will try to reverse this trend because we are still in the running for all the competitions”declared the 31-year-old midfielder on Friday afternoon at a press conference.

In denial?

As incredible as it may seem, the Central African international praises the state of mind of his team. You know, what I see in the squad is that there is a very good state of mind. Honestly, we train pretty well. I feel an invested team, involved teammates”assures Kondogbia even though the facts would tend to prove the opposite.

Against Brest this Sunday evening, the Phocéens will appear on the lawn of the Francis-Le Blé stadium even weaker. The midfield is still decimated since Valentin Rongier, Jordan Veretout and Pape Gueye will remain on the flank. Like full-back Amir Murillo.
