Antoine Griezmann has become the top scorer in the history of Atlético de Madrid. Memphis Depay gave him a diamond-encrusted NBA ring.
The French international, who won the World Cup with the Blues in 2018, surpassed Rojiblancos legend Luis Aragones last January by scoring his 174th goal for the La Liga giants. He now has a special memento of this feat, courtesy of a colleague at the Wanda Metropolitano boarding club. The ring in question is covered in diamonds and bears the number 7, the number of Griezmann’s favorite team. It is presented in a special box which includes a small screen showing video highlights from Griezmann’s two seasons as an Atlético Madrid player.
The Dutch striker, who also played briefly alongside Griezmann at Barcelona, went out of his way to give his close friend a lasting memory. As Griezmann is a big fan of American sports, especially basketball and NFL, so he gave him his own ring, which is similar to those given to the winners of the Super Bowl and NBA Finals.
Depay told Griezmann when he handed him his special gift on Valentine’s Day: ” You deserve it. I know what this means to you. This club, the supporters, the city. Plus, I know how much you love the NBA! » Griezmann responded by saying: “ I’m going to cry ! »
