Real Madrid conceded a goal from Benjamin Sesko from the start against Leipzig on Tuesday in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League, but the referees canceled the goal for a controversial offside.

With its strange central hinge Aurélien Tchouaméni-Nacho (Antonio Rüdiger being withdrawn, in addition to Eder Militao and David Alaba), Real Madrid took on water at the start of the match against RB Leipzig, Tuesday in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. The German team thought they had opened the score in the third minute of the game!

On a corner pushed back by the Merengues, Xaver Schlager tried his luck from outside the area and Benjamin Sesko, lying in wait, scored with a header (3rd). The assistant referee raised his flag, but the Slovenian striker was covered by Rodrygo and, from the first slow motion broadcast, viewers expected the goal to be validated. No way.

A justified offside

The video referee canceled this Leipzig goal, to everyone’s surprise, considering that Benjamin Henrichs, who was in an offside position on Schlager’s shot, had hampered Andriy Lunin, the Ukrainian goalkeeper of the Casa blanched. Big relief for the Real players, who probably don’t know why the goal was invalidated…
