After Ivory Coast’s victory in the CAN 2023 final, Ivorian coach Emerse Faé had a few words for Jean-Louis Gasset.
Winner in the final of the African Cup of Nations against Nigeria (2-1) this Sunday, the Ivory Coast thus consolidates its status as a great African football nation. This is the third triumph for the Elephants after 1992 and 2015.
During the press conference after the success of his team, coach Emerse Faé wanted to pay tribute to his predecessor, Jean-Louis Gasset. The latter resigned following the heavy 4-0 defeat of Ivory Coast against Equatorial Guinea in the group stage.
“We went to get it, the cup. It’s more than a fairy tale, I still have trouble realizing that we did it, when I think of everything we’ve been through, confided the 40-year-old coach.
