After a journey as crazy as it was chaotic, Ivory Coast seems destined to win its CAN at home.
Sunday evening, at 9 p.m., Ivory Coast will have the opportunity to win the third African Cup of Nations in its history. After 1992 and 2015, the Elephants will have to beat Nigeria in the final to achieve this. Sébastien Haller greatly contributed to qualification for this one by scoring the only goal of the semi-final against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“I definitely feel good. I can only savor because there was a good chance that I would not participate in the competition. There were doubts, quite a few days where it wasn’t necessarily easy, mentally or physically”declared the Borussia Dortmund striker, who was still injured when this CAN began, at a press conference.
“It’s up to us to finish the job”
Considering their journey in the competition, the Elephants seem like miracles. “Being here is just a bonus. We are benefitting. Now, we’re caught up in something where we have to see it through to the end. We knew how to question ourselves to get here. We deserved our place in the final. It’s up to us to finish the job”insists the native of Ris-Orangis, who overcame testicular cancer in 2022.
