The draw for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France took place this Thursday evening.
In the recent era of the Coupe de France, the table had not been so tough for a long time. The next rounds of the oldest competition will feature several heavyweights of French football. An exciting program that looks like a play-off with a European ticket at stake.
The Coupe de France indeed represents the shortest path to access a European Cup next season. Olympique Lyonnais has made it its main objective after a catastrophic first part of the season which plunged it to the depths of the Ligue 1 ranking. But the Rhone club will not be the only seed. Paris Saint-Germain, who have been chasing this trophy for three years, remain the big favorites for a final victory. Rennes, Nice, Strasbourg or Monaco – in the event of qualification this Thursday evening against Rouen – will also have their say. Valenciennes (Ligue 2), Petit Pouy Le Puy (National 2) and Rouen (National 1) complete the table.
The posters are known
All these qualified clubs are now fixed since the draw for the quarter-finals of this 2023-24 edition of the Coupe de France took place this Thursday evening. And as planned, several tempting posters will be on the menu during the last week of February.
The biggest shock will pit PSG against Nice. Other high-level confrontations will be on the program, such as the Lyon-Strasbourg match. The darling of this edition, Le Puy will try to continue its epic by creating the feat against Rennes, who defeated Sochaux in the previous round.
