Placed in hat 3, the France team inherited Italy, Belgium and Israel in the draw for the 2024 Nations League.
Didier Deschamps gave a small smile, before turning to his faithful assistant, Guy Stéphan. The France team inherited a difficult group during the draw for the 2024 Nations League, which took place this Thursday evening in Paris.
It was quite predictable. The Blues, because of their disappointing results during the previous edition, were placed in the 3rd hat only. They will thus face two big players, Italy and Belgium, in a group B completed by Israel.
Belgium, as in 2021
Italy and Belgium, this is a bit reminiscent of the 2021 edition of the Nations League, the only one won by the France team. During the Final Four, in Italy, the Blues notably eliminated the Red Devils in the semi-final.
The matches will take place in September, October and November 2024, with two matches per international window. This competition will serve to make the transition between Euro 2024 and preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
Note one new feature: it is now the first two in each group who qualify for the final phase, with quarter-finals in two-way matches in March 2025, and a Final Four at the end of the season, in a location to be determined .
