The situation of the European Superleague has been the subject of much discussion in recent months.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are the main promoters of the proposed competition, which aims to take over from UEFA competitions in the near future. However, the project faces an obstacle: many clubs have denounced the competition and provided their support to UEFA. European football’s governing body is determined to stay in charge, and it has taken a big step in that direction.

According to Relevo, UEFA announced that 500 million euros would be added to the overall prize pool for its three competitions. In addition, 93.5% of competition revenue will now go to participants, with only 6.5% retained by UEFA.

The big reaction from UEFA

In addition, “big” clubs should benefit from a greater share of television revenue, depending on their performance in Europe over the last ten years.

This measure could be seen as a way for UEFA to rally clubs who doubt it. The changes also benefit FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, so it would be interesting to see if their position ends up changing.
