With Paris Saint-Germain finally resigned to losing Kylian Mbappé, it seems that the latter is ready to join Real Madrid, but negotiations have once again hit an obstacle.

The Qatari club have made a contract extension offer to Mbappé, although it is believed not to be a big increase on his current terms. Naturally, the PSG hierarchy wants him to stay, but they also don’t want to be “ransomed” by the Frenchman.

Mbappé and Real Madrid are still negotiating his contract proposal, but they have not gotten any closer to a decision on his salary, according to The Independent, with a big disparity between the player’s expectations and the offer currently on the table.

What calls everything into question?

The player is also of interest to Liverpool and Arsenal. The Premier League giants are said to be keen to take him to England, but they are aware it would require them to radically overhaul their wage structures, a risk none of them are prepared to take. According to the newspaper, Mbappé’s summer alternatives are limited, like the situation of Lionel Messi when he left FC Barcelona. We do not know if the Bondynois will have to reduce his demands or if Real will go further for their number one target.

The Frenchman played 288 matches with PSG, scoring 241 goals and providing 105 assists. Although he hasn’t won the Champions League, if he moves to Spain and links up with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, that dream could come true with the 14-time Champions League-winning club test.

The next few weeks will be crucial for the future of the French crack, who will continue to try to push Madrid to bend to their will. He will be in action during PSG’s next meeting against Brest on Wednesday in the Coupe de France.
