The Moroccan federation has confirmed its intention to organize CAN 2025 in summer and not in winter.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is nearing its end, and it is not yet clear when the next edition of the competition will take place. But we know the preference of the host country. In the press release formalizing the reappointment of Walid Regragui as coach, the Moroccan football federation mentioned the preparation of this “African Cup of Nations which Morocco should host next year in the summer…”
Historically contested in January, the CAN was moved to summer in 2019, so as not to encroach on club competitions. But during the last two editions, for climatic reasons, the competition was organized in winter, in Cameroon then in Ivory Coast. Morocco therefore hopes to organize its CAN in June-July 2025, and not in January 2025 or January 2026.
