Thiago Silva’s wife says the time for change has come at Stamford Bridge.
Veteran Brazilian defender Silva enjoyed four productive years at Stamford Bridge, where he won the Champions League. However, he is now 39 and nearing the end of a distinguished career.
Silva has never hidden that he would like to return to his roots at Fluminense before hanging up his boots. He has been working on renewable 12-month contracts in west London, but another extension could be out of the question.
Pochettino in danger?
He may work with another manager before leaving Chelsea, with Mauricio Pochettino having come under increasing pressure in his first season in charge. The Blues once again showed alarming inconsistency during their home defeat to Wolves, and Isabelle da Silva posted a message on social media accompanied by a few blue hearts: ” It’s time to change. If you wait any longer, it will be too late.”
Chelsea have slipped to the bottom half of the Premier League table, although the London club have continued to spend heavily in the transfer market, and now sit seven points off the top six. Former Southampton and Tottenham manager Pochettino has signed a two-year contract on his return to English football, but it remains to be seen how long he will remain alive at Chelsea.
