A few months after the violent excesses which marred the first meeting at the Vélodrome, the match between Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille, this Sunday (8:45 p.m.), is classified as high risk.

Water has flowed under the bridge, but the images are still in everyone’s minds. On October 29, 2023, the kickoff of the first “Olympic” of the season between Marseille and Lyon was canceled due to violent incidents occurring around the Stade Vélodrome. The Lyon bus had been stoned by individuals outside the enclosure, seriously injuring the face of coach Fabio Grosso and his assistant.

Postponed on December 6 (for a 3-0 OM victory), this meeting is classified as very high risk. In the same way that Lyon supporters were banned from traveling at the beginning of December, it is Marseille supporters who will be deprived of a stadium for this new Olympico.

“We must all be blameless”

” NOTWe have no spirit of revenge in relation to Marseille, except for sport, and that must be played out on the pitch”explained Laurent Prud’homme, the general director of OL. For our part, we must all be irreproachable. It’s our responsibility. We will be uncompromising regarding the behavior of our supporters », added the Lyon leader.
