It’s almost the return of the Champions League and the start of the final phase with the round of 16. On Wednesday February 14, Real Sociedad travels to Paris Saint-Germain with the aim of thwarting the capital club.
Indisputable holder of the Basque squad, Franco-Spanish defender Robin Le Normand spoke about the upcoming confrontation against the Parisians. The central defender took the opportunity to send a message to his future opponents. “ The center forwards do a tremendous job of hindering the first restarts. (…) One of our strong points is collective defensive work. It is clear that we are facing these two matches with the idea of eliminating PSG,” he declared on the Téléfoot show this Sunday.
Real Sociedad, not at the top
Impressive on the European scene but also nationally since the start of the season, Real Sociedad has been slipping a little in recent weeks in the game. Sixth in the La Liga standings, the Basques however managed to hold championship leader Girona in check this Saturday with a score of 0-0 as part of the 23rd day of La Liga.
Facing the Parisians, Imanol Alguacil’s men will be the outsiders of the double confrontation. The Spaniards will have nothing to lose against a red and blue team which aims to reach at least the quarter-finals of the tournament.
