Dutch international Virgil Van Dijk has reassured about his future at Liverpool.

A shadow of worry hangs over Liverpool these days. After the announcement of the departure of coach Jürgen Klopp, uncertainties emerged around the future of their captain, Virgil van Dijk. In a previous statement, the Dutch defender had left doubt, referring to the important changes to come within the club.

“That’s a big question. I don’t know. The club will have a big job to do, everyone knows that. To replace not only the manager, but also the entire staff, a lot of things will change. I am very curious to know what direction the club will take and when it is announced we will study the situation. I hope we have the success we all dream of and by then there will probably be more clarity on what the club wants for the future. We will see then,” declared the 32-year-old rock for SkySports.

“This announcement was a shock”

However, during an interview given to Men in Blazers, Van Dijk allayed concerns, affirming his total commitment to the club and his love for the supporters. His previous comments have been clarified, highlighting his current focus on the current season.

“To be 100% clear, I am fully committed to the club,” assured VVD. I love the club, I love the fans. This is totally taken out of context. (…) Five days ago, we weren’t even talking about my contract, so it’s a bit stupid. My entire focus is on making this a very special year. Of course, this announcement came as a shock to anyone connected with the club, but I feel exactly what the fans felt at that moment. »

Under contract until June 2025, Van Dijk has been a key pillar for Liverpool since his arrival in January 2018 from Southampton.
