The coach of the French women’s team had no choice, and this Tuesday Hervé Renard designated the three players who will have to leave his group and will not play the next World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Oriane Jean-François (PSG), Aïssatou Tounkara (Man Utd) and Mylène Chavas (Bordeaux) have learned the news in recent hours, if they are traveling to Ireland for a preparation match, they will not participate in the next Women’s World Cup which will begin on July 20 with the match New Zealand – Norway in Auckland. Indeed, at first, Hervé Renard had chosen 26 players, but the coach of Les Bleues had entrusted it last week, before Thursday’s friendly match in Ireland, he was going to choose the three internationals who will leave his group, FIFA having requested lists of 23 players. Even if the French list can be handed over next week, Renard has chosen to already make this choice before Thursday’s match.

And Oriane Jean-François, Aïssatou Tounkara and Mylène Chavas were therefore informed that they would not be from the World Cup. A decision necessarily hard to make, but that the tricolor technician had entrusted to be able to assume. Important detail, in case of injury, Tounkara and Chavas have been asked to remain available until the day before the first match of the Blue, it will be July 23 against Jamaica. For her part, Oriane Jean-François had not yet recovered from a groin injury and she is therefore officially forfeited.
