The identity of OL’s latest winter defector has just been revealed. And it should delight Les Gones fans.

John Textor kept his promise. Despite the numerous purchases made since the 1er January, the OL boss assured that his club’s transfer window was not yet over. He clearly kept his word since a new reinforcement is preparing to land in the Rhône. The player in question is Said Benrahma.

The most expensive rookie of the era

According to Sky Sports News, there would be a total agreement between Lyon and West Ham for the transfer of the former Nice player. The operation would cost €17.5 million for Rhone officials. This automatically makes the Algerian international the most expensive defector of the John Textor era, just ahead of Malick Fofana, recently snatched from La Gantoise for €17 million.

Benrahma hasn’t played too often lately for the Hammers. He had somewhat lost the confidence of his manager, David Moyes. A departure had become inevitable, especially since he had had a hard time losing his place in the Algerian selection.

Benrhama will provide an additional solution in attack to Pierre Sage. Certainly good news for the latter, especially since his team’s last outings have been very disappointing on the offensive level.

For the record, Benrahma will be the first Algerian to defend the colors of OL since Yassine Benzia.
