Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi officially left his country on Monday.
Djamel Belmadi is no longer on Algerian soil. The Fennecs coach returned to his place of residence, Qatar, this Monday, according to the Algerian media El Khabar. And this without having broken his contract with the federation. The amicable agreement discussed with his hierarchy has still not been reached.
Belmadi does not want to resign
The day after the premature elimination of the Greens from CAN 2023, Walid Sadi, the boss of the FAF, was quick to publish a tweet in which he announced a separation with the technician in place. An initiative which had preceded the negotiation stage. And what he did not anticipate was that Belmadi would decline the offer made to him.
The African champion coach was offered compensation worth two months’ salary, equivalent to €420,000. An amount he declined, demanding at least three times more. It was then the turn of his management to inform him of a refusal. The positions of the two parties did not come together and Belmadi therefore went to find his family without having sealed the question of his future. The matter could therefore be settled before the CAS.
In Sadi’s mind, however, it would be out of the question to go back on what was announced. He therefore has absolutely no intention of taking over Belmadi. Many sources also claim that he is already in discussions with the future coach. On this subject, however, there is no certainty for the moment except that it will not be Zinedine Zidane.
