This is the exit for this Real Madrid star

This season has been the most difficult for Luka Modric at Real Madrid since his arrival in 2012 from Tottenham.

Luka Modric has been relegated to the bench by Carlo Ancelotti, with players like Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni ahead of him in the pecking order. The 38-year-old has been very frustrated by his lack of playing time this season. He started the season as a regular substitute, and despite a six-week period where he played regularly when Camavinga and Tchouameni were injured, he returned to the bench in the final matches. Against Almeria and Las Palmas he didn’t even play a single minute.

Modric losing momentum

According to Relevo, it is increasingly likely that this season will be Modric’s last at Real Madrid. His contract expires this summer and, given that his situation at the club is very unlikely to improve, it is expected that the two parties will be unable to agree on a lease renewal.

Modric could even leave Real Madrid before the winter transfer window closes next week, with clubs in Saudi Arabia. However, he is likely to stay, even if only until summer.
