Winner of Sassuolo this Sunday (1-0, 22nd day of Serie A), Monza widened the gap on its mid-table pursuers. Held in check by Frosinone (1-1), Hellas Verona is still under pressure.
When hosting a Sassuolo team that had been struggling for several weeks, Monza knew they had a good card to play. Dany Mota’s partners did not miss the opportunity and won by the smallest of margins, thanks to the one and only goal from Andrea Colpani, scored in the thirty-first minute of play on the only shot on target of the match for the locals (out of twelve attempts). This small success (1-0) allows Monza (12th) to take a five-point lead over its first pursuer in the Serie A standings.
A direct pursuer called Frosinone. And the latter was playing at the same time for Verona. After seeing Hellas take the lead in the first period on a penalty converted by Tomas Suslov (1-0, 45th+3), the visitors equalized shortly before the hour mark thanks to Kaio Jorge (1-1, 58th). A logical equalizer and in the end, a draw which is no one’s business. Hellas Verona first, which remains at the back of the grid (16th) and remains under threat from the red zone. Then for Frosinone which continues to stagnate (13th) and which only has a five-unit lead over the first relegation.
