The situation is tense at FC Barcelona. This Saturday evening, as part of the 22nd day of La Liga, the Catalan club suffered a heavy setback in front of its supporters against Villarreal with a score of 5 goals to 3.

A defeat which does not do Barça’s business at all in the standings. Xavi Hernandez’s men are now 8 and 9 points behind Girona and Real Madrid. The title is moving further and further away for the Catalan club.

But that’s not all. With this defeat with a score of 5 goals to 3, the Blaugrana set a new record. This is the first time in 61 years that Barça has conceded 5 goals at home (FC Barcelona 1-5 Real Madrid in 1963).

Xavi Hernandez in danger?

This scathing defeat will not help things for Xavi Hernandez. Discussed for several weeks, the Catalan coach sees his future darkening day by day. Seeing him stay one more season in Catalonia seems unlikely now. These next few days are likely to be hectic within the Barcelona club.
