AS Saint-Etienne conceded its first defeat since the arrival of Olivier Dall’Oglio by losing to Amiens (0-1). The Picards temporarily take 5th place in Ligue 2.
Big disappointment for AS Saint-Etienne. While they had the opportunity to temporarily seize fifth place in Ligue 2, and put themselves back in the race for advancement, the Greens were beaten this Saturday at Geoffroy-Guichard by Amiens (0-1) , at the opening of the 22nd day.
In a half-empty stadium, due to a sanction imposed at one of the Cauldron corners, the Foréziens started the match too slowly. And it was on one of the first chances of the match that the Picards opened the scoring, with a fatal counter-attack concluded by Maxime Do Couto (0-1, 41st).
Carroll, bloody face
In the second half, the Greens were never able to escape from sterile domination. The statistics sum up the meeting well: 62% ball possession, 18 shots to 3 for ASSE, but only three shots on target for the locals. And the Amiens warriors, played by Andy Carroll who ended up with his face bleeding, held on.
On arrival, it’s the first defeat for Olivier Dall’Oglio with AS Saint-Etienne, after two victories and two draws, and a big setback in this still tight Ligue 2. The proof ? Amiens, with this success, temporarily moves from 11th to 5th place. And the Picards, with eleven points taken in five games, are clearly on an upward trend.
