Misfortunes pile up in Barcelona

FC Barcelona’s defeat in the Spanish Cup, conceded on Wednesday in Bilbao, left its mark and filled the infirmary.

Alejandro Balde is not going to cut it. The young Spanish defender of FC Barcelona will be operated on very soon, the Spanish champion club said on Saturday. The 20-year-old left back was injured Wednesday evening in Bilbao, during the elimination in the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey (4-2).

“ Alejandro Balde suffers from a hamstring tendon injury in his right thigh. He will undergo surgical treatment in the coming days by Dr. Lasse Lempainen, under the supervision of the Club’s medical services, in Turku (Finland),” writes the Catalan club press release.

Sergi Roberto, injured in the left Achilles tendon, is also unavailable, FC Barcelona also specified.
