Against all expectations, German coach Jurgen Klopp has announced that he will not coach the Reds beyond the current season.

After nine years of good and loyal service, Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool next June. He has just made the announcement, causing a real shock across the Channel.

Klopp had no more energy

Klopp justified this decision by the fact that he did not “not too much energy” to continue in his mission. “I can’t do it over and over.” “I am convinced that this is the right decision to make,” he added, also specifying that he loved everything about this club.

Klopp will forever be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in LFC history, alongside the legendary Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly. With him, Liverpool notably sought their first league title since 1990. And they also reached three Champions League finals, including one victorious. He will leave behind a very heavy legacy.

He can also enrich his record with at least four other trophies. Liverpool remain in contention in all competitions and are currently the PL leaders, with a five-point lead over Manchester City. The fact that he is decreeing his departure now will perhaps motivate his troops to give everything for a new national glory.

Next step: Mannschaft?

The most likely outcome for Klopp is a return to his country. He is strongly expected to take control of the National team following Euro 2024. It has always been his dream and he could well make it come true.

And to succeed him on the Reds bench, a name is already emerging. That of a veteran of the house, in this case Xabi Alonso. The Basque has become the popular coach this season following his excellent results with Bayer Leverkusen.
