While the Algerian federation has decided to part ways with Djamel Belmadi, Nabil Djellit would like to see a certain Zinedine Zidane settle on the Fennecs sidelines.
This time, it’s well and truly over for Djamel Belmadi. After the fiasco of the CAN 2021, the non-qualification for the 2022 World Cup, Algeria experienced another huge disillusionment in Ivory Coast, where it was eliminated from the group stage of the CAN 2024. The disappointment of too much for the former PSG and OM player, who was thanked by his federation after the defeat against Mauritania (1-0).
Now in search of a new coach, the Algerian Football Federation already has several names in mind, including that of Hervé Renard, currently stationed on the bench of the French women’s team. But the French technician should not be available before September and the end of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“I only see one challenge worthy of him: becoming Algeria coach”
If Hervé Renard, who knows African football well, comes forward as a credible candidate, Zinedine Zidane makes Algerian supporters dream of him. Nabil Djellit even appealed to the former number 10 of the Blues, without activity since the end of the 2020-2021 season and his departure from Real Madrid.
At the end of his career, Zidane chose, with an emotional visit to his parents’ land, to reconnect with his roots. And since the Blues bench continues to refuse him, I only see one challenge worthy of him: becoming coach of the#Algeria pic.twitter.com/eqUEKjLoKi

“At the end of his career, Zidane chose, with an emotional visit to his parents’ land, to reconnect with his roots. And since the Blues bench continues to refuse him, I only see one challenge worthy of him: becoming Algeria coach.”, thus wrote the journalist on X (formerly Twitter). A dream which, however, has little chance of coming true. But as the saying goes: “nothing is impossible in football”…
