Girona drops the Copa del Rey

Surprise leader of La Liga, Girona was eliminated from the Spanish Cup this Wednesday.

The Catalans fell to Mallorca at the end of a spectacular match which saw the locals finish with ten men after the expulsion of Rillo (68e).

Very quickly led 3-0 on goals from Larin (21e) and Prats, twice (28e35e from the penalty spot), Girona still saved the honor by Stuani (69e on penalty) and Savio (90e+6).

It is therefore the Mallorcans who reach the last four of the Copa del Rey. They will meet Atlético or Sevilla FC, who meet Thursday evening in Madrid.
