Like Algeria, Tunisia leaves the African Cup of Nations prematurely. A real disillusionment.
This Ivorian CAN is definitely not forgiving. Surprised at the start of the tournament by Namibia (0-1), the Tunisians were unable to recover. Then held in check by Mali (1-1), the Carthage Eagles were also unable to get rid of South Africa this Wednesday.
It was a goalless draw in fact which sanctioned the debates today in Korhogo – an insufficient result to reach the round of 16 of the competition while the Namibians, who neutralized the Malians at the same time (0-0 ), offer themselves a place among the best thirds in the group stage, thus accompanying their opponents of the day and Bafana Bafana in the next round.
A first since 2013
For Tunisia, the disappointment is severe. Present at the last two World Cups, the Carthage Eagles had not suffered such an affront since the 2013 edition of the CAN. Since then, they had at least reached the quarter-finals, even semi-finalists in 2019 in Egypt.
