Anthony Martial’s adventure at Manchester United is not getting any better. Already little used by Erik ten Hag, the striker was deprived of training by his coach.
Arriving in 2015 at Manchester United, Anthony Martial represented the future. The potential demonstrated by the man who had blossomed at AS Monaco at the time suggested great things to happen and the Red Devils did not hesitate to spend sixty million euros to enlist him. But over the seasons, injuries and disappointing performances from the Frenchman, he gradually lost his credit. Loaned between January and June 2022 to Sevilla FC, Martial hoped to relaunch last season under the leadership of Erik ten Hag who has recently arrived on the Mancunian bench. But the scenario was not really good and the twenty-eight-year-old striker is now sidelined.
Only starting five times in the sixteen Premier League matches in which he has taken part since the start of the season, Anthony Martial has become a support player. Victim of a virus which has deprived him of matches since December 9, he is cured and could have joined his teammates in training. The problem is that Erik ten Hag deemed him out of shape and therefore chose to remove him from the group to train individually. A specific program which should allow him to catch up physically after his absence of more than a month.
Departure possible in January
The information was given by the Dailymail who also clarified that Anthony Martial was at the end of his contract with United and that he would most likely leave free next June, Manchester not having offered him an extension. According to the media, the English club would be listening to possible offers this winter, just to still recover some money from a player purchased at a high price and whose weekly salary is around 290,000 euros.
