The Atlas Lions clearly dominated Tanzania this Wednesday for their debut in the African Cup of Nations (3-0).

Brilliant semi-finalist of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco is expected to turn the corner in this African Cup of Nations. Like Senegal, the selection coached by Walid Regragui is among the favorites for the continental title; and like the Teranga Lions, who defeated Gambia on Monday (3-0), the Atlas Lions did not fail for their debut in the tournament.

Facing Tanzania, after a relatively balanced observation round, the Moroccans did not tremble, clearly superior to their opponents of the day and largely victorious at the finish (3-0). Saïss, an opportunist, opened the scoring after half an hour of play (30e), then Ounahi and En-Nesyri logically worsened the score in the last quarter of an hour (77e80e), following the expulsion of Miroshi from the Tanzanian side (70e).

Stopped in the quarter-finals in 2021, Morocco intends this year to justify its status as headliner, before in turn receiving the CAN for the 2025 edition. Only once crowned in their history on a continental scale, in 1976, the Atlas Lions got off to a good start in Ivory Coast. To be confirmed against DR Congo in four days, then against Zambia.
