Real Madrid could be forced to part ways with Vinicius Junior to sign Kylian Mbappé this summer, with Manchester United set to make a sensational bid.
By scoring a first-half hat-trick against Barcelona in the Supercopa final, the Brazilian took his tally to 136 goals in 241 appearances for Real. The left winger position has been his for many seasons, but he could soon face competition from the best player in the world, Kylian Mbappé. The Frenchman has long been linked with a move to Madrid and could sign on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, although he would arrive on a sky-high weekly salary of 700,000 euros.
This transfer would therefore not be completely “free”, because the Frenchman’s annual salary would amount to 35 million euros. As a result, Sport reports that Los Blancos could consider the unthinkable and sell Vinicius, should there be a suitable offer. This offer could come from United, which will be supported from the summer by the INEOS group of British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, after its investment was ratified by the Premier League. The local press believe they are prepared to pay £130m for the Brazilian.
The report also flags other potential issues that could contribute to a Vinicius departure. Competition on the left flank is one such issue, while its “controversial” nature is seen as “unfriendly to the club’s image”. It is also noted that although he has been sidelined for much of the current campaign due to injury, the Madrid side have done very well without him.
