Tunisia kicked off its African Cup of Nations with a defeat against Namibia, who had never won a match in the competition.
Quarter-finalist of the previous African Cup of Nations and qualified for the 2022 World Cup, Tunisia was defeated at the start of the CAN in Ivory Coast, losing to Namibia (0 -1), Tuesday in Korhogo. The very first victory for the Namibians at the CAN, for their fourth participation in the continental event.
The Eagles of Carthage, with Montassar Talbi, Ellyes Skhiri or Youssef Msakni, did not shine in the game and suffered on the counterattacks of the Brave Warriors, who ended up opening the scoring by Deon Hotto in the 88th minute for this nation only 113th in the Fifa Ranking.
The Tunisians must revive against Mali in the next match, while Namibia will challenge a neighboring southern African country, South Africa.
