Real Madrid had a great time on Sunday evening in Riyadh, winning their first trophy of the season after beating FC Barcelona 4-1 in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti both had a historic evening. The former won his 33rd major trophy during his presidency, moving him ahead of Santiago Bernabeu (32) as the most successful president in Real Madrid’s history, and cementing his legacy at Los Blancos.

For Ancelotti, this is his 11th major title as Real Madrid coach. He thus becomes, tied with Zinedine Zidane, the second most successful coach in the club’s history in terms of trophies won. He no doubt hopes to overtake his former protĂ©gĂ© by the end of the season, after which he can attack Miguel Munoz’s record (14).

Given that Ancelotti just signed a two-year contract extension at Real Madrid, he has a huge chance of finishing his time at the club as the most successful manager of all time. If he succeeds, he will deserve it doubly.
